Before reading Sarah’s “Participatory Composition – Video Culture, Writing, and Electracy”, I thought “electracy” was related to electricy literacy but with the addeded technology of literacy making it electracy. The reason why I thought this is because it also reminded me of flexibility and elasticity.
After reading Sarah’s explanation, I now understand electracy to be the path from print to digital social media. Literacy is now determined by our ability to understand multimedia, hypermedia and social media. It is that concept of social media culture that we participate and share in today.
