2 Killed in Shootings in Brooklyn and Queens

This is extremely heartbreaking. Imagine if you were just standing outside and you suddenly get shot in the head, resulting in your death. Why do you think many teenagers nowadays hold weapons on them and think it’s “cool” to murder others? As Human Services workers, we must educate the parents and talk to these teenagers about what they are putting themselves into and what their future holds for them. We must educate the parents on the things they can do to help their children from a young age and helping them from getting in trouble, getting killed and doing jail time. Tell me what you think about this and what else can Human Services workers do to avoid situations like these?

  1. Jenny Phan says:

I also blame on social media like miley cyrus. lol. Nowaday, there are a lot of games and movies that are very violence, such as dead space 2, Mortal Kombat, and Medal of Honor. Parents should avoid to buy these games or movies to their children. Some Young children or adults cannot tell the difference between fantasy and reality.

  2. This is a sad article, especially life being taken at such a young age. As a human service professional, i would like to believe that primary, secondary, and tertiary care would be able to assist the parents with teenagers who may be experiencing problems. Ultimately it is the parents who must acknowledge there is a problem and seek help, otherwise the teenager may be lost in incidents such as these. It is not totally clear that these teenagers were problematic, or victims, it’s also not clear who the shooters were, therefore; the type of assistance here would depend on the information the victims are willing to devulge.
Jenny that is an interesting take you have to this article, I would like to point out that games such as those fo have age regulations, and parents should not allow their children to play with things they do not yet understand. If the individual is within the age to play and still does not understand the difference between reality and fantasy/right and wrong then that is a complete different issue all together (in my opinion)

  3. Yes, I agree with the both of you. Yes, Heather its extremely sad to know that the lives of many young children are being taken due to violence and shootings.

  4. Hello, you used to write great, but the last several posts have been kinda boring?K I miss your tremendous writings. Past several posts are just a little out of track! come on!

  5. obviously like your web-site but you have to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome to tell the reality on the other hand I will surely come again again.
