Man Charged With Killing a Developer in January

The New York Police Department has arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the kidnapping and killing of a Brooklyn developer, whose body was found smoldering in a trash container at a gas station in Nassau County on Jan. 3. What do you guys think about this article? It’s extremely sad to see someone die this way. Do you think the murderer could have been counseled and an intervention may have happened before hand if they knew this was going to happen?

  1. Well Mohammed yes i believe if they knew this was going to happen a lot could have been done including an intervention, but they didn’t. I agree this is a horrible way to die regardless of who or what kind of life we live. Moving forward these individuals need to be rehabilitated, and i believe they can be or it is worth a try at least. For the family my heart goes out to them and bereavement counseling/group would definitely be something they may want to look into. The fact that the media portrayed him as a “Bad Guy” aggravated the situation, and as a professional i would recommend the family get assistance to overcome this whole ordeal.

This article reveals a lack of respect for human life on behalf of the accused. There is however a lot of information missing due to the ongoing investigation. That being said a human life has been lost and I do agree Heather that the media should not have drawn attention to the victims financial woes. The community and family that mourns the loss of the victim, should be offered counseling as mentioned. As for the murder, we can only speculate as to the reason they choose to do such a horrible crime. If the murder was pre-meditated and someone had knowledge /speculation before hand; yes an intervention would have been possible. But as it stands , Mr Félix the accused if found guilty; should be punished to the full extent of the law and receive effective rehabilitation to prevent him from joining the ranks of the repeat offender.

  3. Yes, I agree with the both of you! If he is found guilty he should be punished to the full extent and receive services within the prison system to rehabilitate him and even do some mental health tests on him to see if he needs to be treated or not for a mental health diagnosis.

  4. I believe that in todays society human life is no longer portrayed with the same respect like it use to be. A lot of times we see crime happening all around us and no one is brave enough to step up and do something about it, because of the fear that something will happen to them. So I do think that we as a society need to step up and get convicted people the help that is necessary for them to change their life so they will not commit the same crime once they get out.
