I was one of the few chosen CUNY students to participate in the assistant patient navigation internship program.  Based on my academia and interview I was able to be a part of the Beth Israel Medical Center family under the department of health as an assistant patient navigator. I was placed in Gastroenterology where i focused solely on the educational aspect of colonoscopies. . The duties of an assistant patient navigator were to educate patients regarding colonoscopies and the process and importance for screening. I also entered patient information in database for the Department of Health, as well scheduled appointments and follow up’s.
