I want to teach my audience what Structural Racism is doing to society, and how it’s affecting people of color, their lives, and new generations of kids. People tend to turn the other eye because they think one specific race is better than another. It separates different communities. Many people of color have tried peaceful protesting to get their voices out of there. I want to reach congress, anyone in charge of making laws, and change. I also want to get all white people because racism comes from white supremacy, lots of people discriminate against people of color. So many people of color have disadvantages with health, jobs, education, and police brutality. The genre I’ll be choosing is a newspaper, which is the best way to get information out there about an issue, everyone reads them every day. Newspapers are a great source to learn about events. I’ll publish this in the New York Times article, the website is very well known. I plan to gather information, and observations to put together a newspaper. I will be using lots of sources and reading information on the history of racism.

Unit 3 Proposal
I want to teach my audience about the effects of hazing such as alcohol poisoning. The specific audience I’m trying to reach is college students but specifically freshman because I feel like they are more bound to peer pressure and they want to fit in more when they go to college for the first time. The genre I am planning to write in is social media posts because I believe most young adults are consumed by social media so I feel like this would reach the audience I’m targeting. I would hypothetically publish this text on instagram because I believe a large percentage of young adults that are college freshman are on instagram. I intend to get started by first starting off with writing about the history of hazing. I think it will create a base for me instead of just getting right into the effects/risks of hazing and it is also part of my research from unit 2. My concerns about finishing this project is the pictures I will be using for the posts because I feel like the visuals will take a huge part on whether the audience will read more and become aware of the risks of hazing.
Proposal for 11/17
I would like to teach my audience why victims of domestic violence sometimes stay with their abusers and how a victim can potentially leave that scenario. The audience I am trying to reach are victims of domestic violence and their friends/family. The genre I’m considering at the moment is a video essay because I believe videos are easier to digest and typically reach a wider audience. Also, I feel sometimes people need to feel like someone is talking to them directly and a video in my opinion does that well. I would hypothetically publish this text on Youtube perhaps because it is a very well known video platform that millions use every day. To get started, I intend to look back on my unit 2 research and begin to formulate a sort of script to assist me in my project. My concerns for finishing this project include procrastination and my own awkwardness I suppose. For my video to be effective I would need to sound genuine and my nervousness may force me to speak in a monotonous way. Another concern would be finding a place and time to record without extra noise.
