Part 1

  1. CNN news is a great website for my letter to be published, to get news out there all around. CNN has breaking news, the latest news, and all types of videos, photos, and topics all over the world.
  2. Their audience is the world, whoever is watching or reading their news, this website has so many concerns, subjects, on anything anyone wants to learn about news.
  3. Their articles are like a page long, their videos are about 1 minute and 50 secs.
  4. There are different tones in the website, for breaking news their tone is serious, for regular news causal, concerned, and for entertainment it’s funny.
  5. Casual and formal diction is used.
  6. They use lots of evidence to pack up their news like interviews with people, quotes, other sources and websites, and lots of data.
  7. Their presentation is white background, with black and red writing, with lots of photos, commercials, and videos.
  8. Yes this would be a great website to reach my audience, CNN news is known, they reach the world, and lots of people need to know how racism is affecting people of color.

Part 2

I’m thinking of writing a letter to the people in charge, the congress since they have the power to change laws. I want to gather lots of information, and sources to back up my letter, I want to have videos also as evidence. I want to practice writing in 3rd person, I also want the letter to be very persuasive so the people of the congress can really make a change.

December 22

Structural racism has been affecting people of color for many years, because of this they have no opportunities with education, jobs, wealth, taxes, voting, healthcare, and housing treatment. This exists because of white supremacy, white people placing themselves on the top and putting black and other minorities at the bottom.

No matter how many protests about racism nothing is done to help people of color Racism can be stopped, and laws can be put into place but the U.S and the government choose not to so “everyone has an opportunity”. My main focus on the audience is the congress. I’m targeting representatives, they can introduce solutions, offers, and amendments. Bowman might have some sort of power to alter or put in a law to protect people of color from structural racism.

Over the years, I see structural racism is real. I became interested because I’m coming to an age where I will be an adult soon. I want to succeed in life and be able to reach high class, but structural racism is taking any opportunity I have. I’m worried racism might affect me the way it’s affecting adults.  In my letter I will be targeting one specific audience. Jamaal Bowman is a United States Presentative, a democratic, he served in the house from 2011 till now. My letter would consist of a congress of the united states title up top, below the date, the name of the representative I am trying to target. Under the state, the district, and party, and time he served. I will be explaining to Jamaal Bowman how racism is affecting people of color, and their communities. I’ll be trying to convince him to make changes since he is still serving in the house. I will be incorporating some people of color we lost because of racism, and white privilege. This letter would be a short, personal, and  direct speech to Jamaal.

Jamaal might have been convinced, bringing my personal thoughts and how it would affect not only me but the kids in this generation might have opened his eyes a little bit. Maybe instead of targeting one audience from the congress I should have targeted a group, they may all read my letter, have a meeting about it and at least talk about that being the first step. This was kind of easy in a way it’s a real thing happening everywhere in society. Having this as a college project was a good thing, I wanted to get the people in charge of making these laws to at least notice how it’s affecting people of color. All the protests have not been working so maybe expressing how it will affect kids might give them a little sympathy.

Know you publication Question

The site that I’m planning to publish my work is on Instagram as I feel that is best to reach out to the audience that should probably read about my research and topic.

  1. Instagram has a lot of stuff there, Instagram is a social media website where anyone can could post whatever they want on there for there friends or family to see. People also use it to post funny clips or informative information to spread awareness to one another.
  2. Depends on what the account is about really, like for example @nycfc.source which is an Instagram account that post anything that is related to New York City Football Club as its a fan account. Just by looking at their account and their bio they’re audience is for fans of NYCFC and soccer fans.
  3.  They’re post aren’t too long normally unless its about transfers but it’s usually straight to the point so users can understand what’s going on quickly.
  4. The tone are either laid back, informative or emotional as they give update on what’s going on during games and after games.
  5. They use casual and formal diction for the most part
  6. They gather they’re information/data from interviews, quotation, reporters, etc and give them credit at the end
  7. They’re presentation using have edited photos that either give valuable information there or at the caption
  8. Doing something like this would be a good way to reach out to my audience and Instagram would be good publication since mostly every teenager and young adult has it.

Part 2

I’m thinking of posting like 10 posts on Instagram data, good edited photos to attract my audience to see the post and read the caption which would have all the information briefed and understandable for everyone to understand the purpose of the post.

In Class Writing 11/29

*The language and tone are very formal. The voice is speaking at a constant volume and speed.  It sounds like someone’s telling a story.

*They’re not specifically using any sources. They’re giving examples to further prove what they’re talking about. And they use evidence (events from the past) that justifies their point.

*The narrator asks questions, then gives the answers to the questions. They use images that relate to or are from the events they’re talking about. It’s like a little slide show, but it runs smoothly and has smooth transitions. There’s low instrumental music in the background.

*The video is 9 minutes long.

*I think the target audience is anyone who doesn’t value the little things and events in life. The entire point the narrator is making is that every small thing we do has a consequence. Another possible target audience could be people who are hopeless with their life. The narrator said something specific that led me to this conclusion. At the end of the video they said, “So if you ever thought your life doesn’t matter, believe me, it really does.” They’re trying to encourage people to better understand that every decision we make that seems insignificant, leads to bigger things later. And we all play a part in everything that happens in the world.

*I would like to be as clear as the narrator is in the video. Anyone watching the video would most likely agree with the narrator afterwards because they were easy to understand and persuasive kind of.

*I’d like to avoid saying that my piece will have a specific effect on the audience. The title of the video is “The Butterfly Effect; This Video Will Change Your Life; Documentary”. I feel like by saying that the video will “change” someone’s life is a little dramatic. But then again it might help get more views and a larger audience. Personally, I wouldn’t make the same decision. To get a larger audience I would put an interesting image as clickbait to draw people in. Or I would try to make an interesting title.
