HW 3.1

WRITE: Answer the “Know Your Publication” Questions we looked at in class for the hypothetical publication YOU would like to publish in.

  • What kinds of articles/ stories/ media  (and ads and videos for that matter) are on that site?

– There will be art pieces and artifacts featured, that have a background to The Met, as well as maybe a piece and a story of how it traveled to The Met, a story of an artifact being found and then returned.

  • What does that tell you about who they think their audience is? How do you draw that conclusion?

– Since there is visualization, my main audience are artists. Artists love looking at art and getting inspiration, and also learn their best with visualization, so something written down or a imagie are the best options.

  • How long are the pieces usually? (pages, words, minutes)?

– There can be a maximum of 3 pages including a feature on the magazine page and then 2 pages within the magazine.

  • What is the tone, usually? (funny, serious, casual)

– The tone is fun and serious, educational and interesting.

  • What kind of diction is usually used? (casual, formal, academic, etc.)

– Formal and academic diction.

  • How do they usually use evidence/ support (such as data, quotations, interviews, etc)?

– There is gonna be credit given to artists and their work as well as credit from where the stories are coming from.

  • What can you tell us about their visual presentation?  Is it all black and white text? Video with lots of graphics?

– It will be very colorful and full of light while staying modern and not cheesy.

  • Do you think this would be a good publication or forum to reach your intended audience?  Why or why not?

– Yes this is a great way since my audience can carry with them at all times, while riding the subway while on vacation, cut out and create collages and just save for many years.

Unit 3 Proposal

For my Unit 3 proposal I will be reaching out to all of the parents. I chose the parents because they are the guardians of the kids playing the video games and I feel like they should know what best for their kids and what they should expect when they are playing their games. The way I will be reaching out to these parents is by Instagram posts. I will be making a post about different type of information about video games and how its affecting the kids that play it ,whether its negative or positive. So the instagram account would be informative to the parents and they will know what’s best for their kids with the information provided with every post. The way I intend to get started is by making an the account. The username will be “Kids_vs_games”. In the bio I will write questions for parents to make decisions to, but as I make more post on the account their aspect of how they see video games and how they affect kids may change. I don’t have any concerns about finishing this project, but I am worried that I might not have the best information or the right amount of Information.

Unit 3 Proposal

For my unit 3 proposal, I was thinking of writing a newspaper, because my topic was jazz and its influence on society and literature. Jazz can be introduced in a newspaper to showcase its cultural impact and highlight upcoming events. Introducing jazz in a newspaper allows for wider reach and exposure to a diverse audience. It helps promote upcoming jazz events, share artist profiles, and explore the genre’s influence on other art forms. It’s a way to celebrate the rich history and vibrant presence of jazz in a widely accessible format. Newspapers have a wide readership, so it helps reach a diverse audience and expose them to the beauty and cultural significance of jazz. It can include articles about jazz history, profiles of talented musicians, upcoming jazz events, and album reviews. By featuring jazz in a newspaper, it brings attention to the genre, educates readers, and encourages them to explore and appreciate jazz music. It’s a fantastic platform to celebrate the artistry and impact of jazz in a broader context. It educates readers about jazz history, showcases talented musicians, and promotes upcoming events. By featuring jazz in a newspaper, we can celebrate its cultural significance and inspire others to explore and appreciate the beauty of jazz music. So let’s keep the jazz vibes flowing!
