Research Question Proposal

So for the Unit two project my research question that I have came up with is whether or not multiverse theory is really possible? This topic has had so many theories in my brain. Your probably wondering how it all started? Well it all began a couple years ago when I was in Sophomore year. We had plenty of time home because of the pandemic. So I started playing a video games and played this one game called “Life is Strange”. Within the game “Life is Strange” you play as this girl named Max Caulfield who finds out she has the ability to reverse time when she saves her friend named Chloe Price. When she does she creates a alternative universe and a gigantic tornado. In the game you can make so many choices as it also depicts every aspect you do like if you were nice to someone one day they will remember that. Thus changing the original path of the universe even more. Well when I finished the game and had to make the difficult final decision at the end, I always thought about whether there is a universe where things could have been different for me. When I graduated high school and finally got to this summer my interest peaked in the topic more. What added on to my interest was when I got in my marvel phase. Marvel studios covers so many questions I had. Like what do I look like in another universe? What would New York city look like in another universe? What would our food look like in another universe? If I research this there are so many different outcomes I can expect. I can find out about the possible different forms our multiverses can take. The potential side effects of universal and multiversal travel. Whether or not it is even possible to travel that far one day? How each of these multiverses are possibly. Whether they can all be destroyed in a instant? So many questions I have and why do I expect this you may ask. Well because there are people like me probably wondering the same thing. My questions seem likely theorized theories too by people like me. One last thing I can expect is those common videos or articles “What if this creature were real in our universe?” I won’t be using those for research though don’t worry.

Research Question Proposal

The major question I wish to discuss amongst my bibliography is, how does gender roles specifically affect families? Like in any society; genders have gender roles: society’s definition of men and women. For example, men are expected to be: masculine, dominant, stoic, in control, and un-feminine. Whereas, women are expected to be: feminine, not “fat”, understanding, and un-masculine. With these gender roles, a system is created that derives out of toxicity for both masculinity and femininity. Society normally views this concept of gender as if it was written in stone and a person would be crucified like heretics if they would call out these concepts. The concept of gender with its toxic roles is like a bird cage that locks people from reaching their full potential. Gender roles make men, women, and even worse young children, live up toxic standards that are perceived to be ok. No one should be forced to live a certain lifestyle just to be accepted by society. The toxicity of gender roles leaks into American society affecting marriages, education, salaries, and much more(placeholder). These concepts are particularly interesting for me to research about, as gender roles and misogyny thouroughly affected my adolescence and my parents marriage. Often gender norms were constantly casted on me and affected the way I and many other women experienced girlhood. There were instances when gendering items and actions for on apparent reason occurred such as when my father taught me all the “boy stuff” (mainly sports and fishing) and how to do the girlie things (laundry, mending, cooking), but more so because I didn’t want to be helpless than because I had to be a girl. The parent of the opposing gender would always correct me if I ever behaved in a very boyish or girlish manner. The only time gender roles were rigid was when my mother went to great measures to protect a notion of purity. My mother didn’t try to hide the fact that there were many tight curfews and rules in place and that they wouldn’t apply to me if I were a guy. Though gendering items seems harmless due to generations of this occurrence, this continues a cycles of sexism. Reinforcing genders and binaries, suggest the major idea that men and women are not equal, this affects family dynamics through both married couples and their children. These instances make me very passionate about writing about this topic within my bibliography.

Research Question Proposal

I had a question that has always made me curious, and my question is, are video games acceptable for kids or are they just inappropriate for kids? Some may say that video games can ruin a kids mind and the actions of a child may reflect on the game they are playing, But there are some games that have good intentions for the children. For example, I play Grand Theft Auto 5 which is a mature game that children shouldn’t play. I play it because its just a cool video game in my opinion and I think nothing of it, but other younger children will start using the same bad profanity that is used in the games or think that the actions in the game is acceptable to do in real life. Beyond simply being a fun activity, playing video games can provide other benefits to kids as well. Many games encourage problem solving, working memory, and information processing skills. Others, such as action games, foster hand eye coordination, which can potentially translate to the real world, as well. Video games can also serve as creative outlets and allow kids to explore their identities and interests in a virtual space free from judgment or discrimination. Also, video games can foster social connections similar to social media, which has become increasingly important during the COVID pandemic. But then there’s the bad side of video games. One of parent’s biggest concerns with video games relates to violence and for a bad reasons Recent studies have shown that long-term exposure to violent video games can contribute to aggressive behaviors in children and adolescents. As with social media, video games can also open up avenues for cyberbullying, which can hugely impact the mental health of children and adolescents. Playing video games can also be quite addictive, which can lead to social isolation and poor physical health. In addition, playing video games contributes to higher amounts of daily screen time and, if played at night, can lead to significant sleep disturbances. This is a great question to ask because some people think video games are taking these kids childhood away, because they always want to play and not socialize or enjoy their surroundings, But then people also think it’s okay because the kids are socializing playing video games or playing educational games that they can learn from. I think that video games for children is also a half and half for me because there’s games like football or basketball that you can enjoy playing any age, but then it won’t be really appropriate for children playing online games with other adults. This is why I question, Is video games good for children or no?
