Course Breakdown
Schedule subject to change. This class has 30 meetings. Class content will be added as the semester progresses.
Class 1- Wednesday, 8/28
- Theme: First Day! Intro to class and the subject of typography.
- Activities: History of Typography (short video), Type Challenge – Open Lab Setup, OFF BOOK Typography PBS (video and discussion)
- Homework– Due by 11 PM, Thursday, 8/29:
Class 2- Friday, 8/30
- Topic: Visual communication and the origin of written communication and the alphabet. Intro to design application.
- Activities: Brief History of the Letterform, Intro to InDesign.
- Homework- Due by 11PM, Tuesday, 9/3
- InDesign, write 4 sentences about what you think is the greatest invention of all time. (See Class Notes for important details).
- Complete Homework from Class 1 (if you haven’t already).
- Make sure you have access to Adobe, can login to a school computer, and have a CUNY email.
- Starting next week you’ll be required to write down one thing you learned during class each day. Bring a notebook or a way to take notes.
