Reminder: You need to talk to us for one minute about your Opinion project

..on Wednesday. Yes, Nov 2’s class will have us looking at you for a whole 60 seconds. Hey, you can even take over the AV lectern and show us visuals if you like.

You talk; we listen. So please be prepared to share your project at any stage it is in Right NOW. (Chances are, we will *snap*.)

Also: I would like to see everyone weighing in here via post and comment on OpenLab, as I requested last week.

(doesn’t have to be as formal as this…but hey, he is trying)

Something About Education

I have been thinking back and forth to figure out what I am going to write about. As seen different peers posted different topics with amazing explanations. It inspired me to do some more search on my brain. Eventually, I decided to write about Education that needs reform or change. It came to my mind because I feel that a college education is in crisis. College costs too much compared to ten years ago. But the income is not raised as fast as college tuition.

Because of expensive tuition, I think the school needs to give students more freedom to choose different courses instead of requiring them to take courses that are not related to their major. However, I am still not sure how that will be related to the discourse community. I am struggling  with the topic.

Basketball Need Help! Unit 2 Opinion Piece Plan

Chashman Miran –

So far, I really don’t know what exactly my opinion piece is going to be about due to there being a variety of different discussions and topics that can be spoken about and related to but the overall focus of my opinion piece will have to be based on Basketball.

Basketball is a deep and connected sport where not only can you speak about the game itself and its impact, but you can also speak on the off-court, media, and mental side. The historical side of Basketball and what it has done to the world. Speaking about the actions of players and how the game of basketball has changed and evolved over time. How these men come from various backgrounds in their lives and put dedication in the sole ability to only become the top and the best at what they do. How they are able to put themselves in such determination and emphasis and craftsmanship every day in order to achieve and perform at the highest level and compete against the best. The NBA only has room for around 450 players every year at all times and no one is guaranteed a spot. Injuries run rampant in the league and so they need to be healthy and they need to be competitive and show their value as a player as there is someone new always looking for a chance to shine and they can take your job from you.

I’m not sure of my exact topic but the topic idea that keeps floating around in my about the craftsmanship of NBA players and how their level of success and achievement can be pushed upon any walk and forms of life. One player who I looked up to for their craft and game are players like Giannis, Kobe, Micheal Jordan. Who stay day in and day out in the gym, continuing to train and push themselves beyond limits and expectations and now have shown it to pay off leaving off their legacies and records and their impact to the most important thing of their lives, Basketball.

There are many different angles that can be said, how Basketball is not just putting a ball through the hoop. Sports in general showcase difference set of skills and bringing people together. Going off topic but there’s so many different things you can speak about which is what I’m still having a hard time understanding what exactly to put my direct opinion on as so many people already have their opinion on the sport. Talk shows, sports shows have a different opinion which is always changing to different narratives. I’m just looking for one I can confidently speak about. Basketball has significantly changed my life. Taught me to be healthy as a start. One player in particular who is my favorite, Derrick Rose. He showcases such determination, and passion and mental and physical toughness despite going through heart breaking injuries, he’s still going strong till today even if he is a shadow of his former self. Stories like this, different players all have their stories and need to perform as it is their duty.

Not sure what else to say, but just wanted to hear out some peoples ideas on what I could write about, thank you for reading.
