Speaking of interpretations, here is a short interpretation of Cheever’s “The Enormous Radio”:
[Sept 25, 2015] Sculpture from Katsuyo Aoki (Hi-Fructose vol 21 2011)
From the article in Hi-Fructose: Aoki says that she is “most inspired by periods in art history that represent times of existential transition and upheaval in the art world (not to mention ones of significant flourish): the baroque and rococo, the gothic, and the expressionist niche of the postmodern” (47).

Hello Professor and class, here is an interesting music video I enjoy from one of my favorite bands called BluEtengel. What do you make of it? Is it uncanny, fantastic, marvelous or something entirely different?
We have spoken a lot about the goth in literature and even in art but what about dance? What form of dance has the goth transitioned into? Here is another video of one of my favorite industrial dancers called Bio Red Master dancing to another great band called X-RX. What do you make of the dance and music? We have also yet to discuss the goth-subculture so I look forward to discussing this topic with all of you.
Hi Rogue,
Would you be willing to briefly discuss either of these videos if I post them to our “Daily Goth” page?
Best,
Prof. Scanlan
Hello Professor,
I can do my best. I don’t speak German so I wouldn’t be able to translate the lyrics to the BluEgengel song but I think it’s a great video and I’m sure the class would enjoy discussing the aspects of the gothic represented in it.
Thanks!
Hello professor and class! I found the English translated lyrics to the BlutEngel music video.
http://lyricstranslate.com/en/reich-mir-die-hand-give-me-your-hand.html
Now that we can understand the lyrics, (I don’t speak German so I don’t know the lyrics) it makes the video a little more understandable than just a group of vampires sucking each other’s blood. Ha ha.
Hello class, here is another music video I think would be interesting to discuss in class. The self titled band is called King Diamond and he is known for making albums where each song is an entire story and to understand the whole story you need to listen to each song. This is the first song I ever heard from them and I have been hooked ever since. Great album and even more awesome symbolism!
What aspects of the gothic do you all see represented here?
