On Monday October 1, for our Effective speaking and English class we went on a trip to Brooklyn Historical Society. Brooklyn Historical society contains content from all throughout Brooklyn`s history as well as from the other 5 borough’s in New York. As we entered BHS we made our way up to the 2nd floor with two guides that came to NYCCT to give us an introduction as to what BHS is all about. The first thing we did was review some of the rules that pertain to viewing documents at Brooklyn Historical Society. During our trip we had a hands on experience in viewing Brooklyn Historical society’s vast map collection that spans from 1562-2011. Some of the different maps that we viewed are cadastral, historical, nautical, pictorial, political, road, topographical, and manuscript maps. Along with all these maps we examined we were given an activity sheet that eoprtiasn to the maps and we fill them out by analyzing the different features on the map. This was what we learned on our trip as a class to the Brooklyn Historical Society.
