Sonnet

Sonnet Comes from the word “Sonnetto” which means “little song” in Italian. There are two types of sonnets Italian sonnet and English sonnet.In the Italian sonnets or “Petrarchan” there are Two parts, the octave which is composed of eight lines and the sestet which is the final 6 line. The English sonnet or the Shakespearean sonnet is composed of 3 quatrains and a couplet.

Ex: Of Italian sonnet is  “The world is too much with us” By william Wordsworth

The last words in each lines of the poem makes it sound heavy or harsh for example ; on -orn. The last lines rhyme but then the mood of the poem changes in the last B lines when the rhyme scheme of the poem gives them a different attitude.
