Week 13:

  • Dates: Wednesday, 11/29 and Monday, 12/4
  • Meeting Info: This course meets in person for 100 minutes twice per week, Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:00-1:40pm, in Namm 602A. By the end of each week, I will post an agenda that will outline the next week’s work. It will include instructions for you and links to readings, discussion questions, and other work. We will work on developing community both in our classroom and in our online written community.

Objectives

  • To use mentor texts as guides to our chosen genres
  • To share drafts of Project 3
  • To catch up on any missing or late work, especially with the Final Portfolio in mind.
  • To schedule a time to talk with me for additional support
  • To finish Project 3 and reflective cover letter
  • To begin the Final Reflection and Portfolio

To Do Before Week 13

Just in case you haven’t already, please:

  • Catch up on any readings or discussions you’ve missed–you can review the Weekly Class Agendas to see what we covered.
  • Submit Project 2 by writing a post, adding your annotated bibliography to the post (you can copy and paste it from wherever you’ve been writing it), and use the category Project 2 Work. If you need help, please ask me or consult this Help page on Writing a Post.

  • Continue using mentor text(s) to help guide your approach to your chosen genre for Project 3

Writing:

  • Continue revising your new composition (Part 1) with the goal of having a completed draft of Part 1 done so you can begin working on Part 2 in our next class, on Wednesday, November 29.
  • Continue drafting Part 2 based on your draft of Part 1
  • Consider sharing your draft of Project 3 as a post on our OpenLab site to help your classmates see examples.

  • How do we do a rhetorical analysis for Part 2?
  • What else does Part 2 include
  • Drafting
  • Feedback:
    • if you need to do more research, do it!
    • if you need to imagine a group for your audience eg a student astronomy club, do that!
