Week 12:

  • Dates: Monday, 11/20 (virtual) and Monday, 11/27 (in person)
  • Wednesday, 11/22–no classes
  • Meeting Info: This course meets in person for 100 minutes twice per week, Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:00-1:40pm, in Namm 602A. By the end of each week, I will post an agenda that will outline the next week’s work. It will include instructions for you and links to readings, discussion questions, and other work. We will work on developing community both in our classroom and in our online written community.

Objectives

  • To work on Project 3
  • To use mentor texts as guides to our chosen genres
  • To share drafts of Project 3
  • To catch up on any missing or late work, especially with the Final Portfolio in mind.
  • To schedule a time to talk with me in place of Monday’s class.

To Do Before Week 12

Just in case you haven’t already, please:

  • Catch up on any readings or discussions you’ve missed–you can review the Weekly Class Agendas to see what we covered.
  • Submit Project 2 by writing a post, adding your annotated bibliography to the post (you can copy and paste it from wherever you’ve been writing it), and use the category Project 2 Work. If you need help, please ask me or consult this Help page on Writing a Post.

To-Do This Week

  • Evaluate your mentor text(s) to help guide your approach to your chosen genre for Project 3

Writing:

  • Continue drafting your new composition (Part 1)
  • Begin note-taking for Part 2 based on your draft of Part 1

In Class:

  • For health reasons, I’ve scheduled this class to be a virtual class. You can use the class time to work on your project and to meet with me via Zoom.
  • Sign up for a 1-on-1 10-minute Zoom conference with me between 11:00am and 2:30pm, to discuss your work on Project 3. This conference and your work today on Project 3 will count for Monday’s attendance.

Monday, 11/27

  • Your drafts of parts 1 and 2
  • Your mentor texts

Writing:

  • Continue drafting and revising your new text (part 1)
  • Draft your genre analysis and reflection (part 2)

  • Another useful option: Postermywall.com
  • For our next class, on Wednesday, November 29: have a draft of Part 1 done so you can begin working on Part 2.
  • Consider sharing your draft of Project 3 to help your classmates see examples
  • Remember: Project 3 due date for final version: Monday, December 4, 2023 (or close to that)
