Coffeehouse #3 – Jordin De La Rosa

The reason why they used nail polish to deceive the passengers from Simon’s leg wound is because one of the nail polish bottles had red ink instead of actual nail polish. Second, Simon wanted to fool everyone that someone else is the murderer by “harming” himself and throwing the gun away. People would believe a wounded man rather than a man who’s unhurt. This was all an elaborate scheme that Simon conjured up.

Christopher Alberto- Who is the least ethical character?

Christopher 22–Who is least ethical character: Tim Allerton or Pennington? Ch 18, 26, 27.

I’d say the least ethical character is Mr.Penington. When Poirot and Race interviewed him, Andrew would be uncomfortable. At times, he would use his handkerchief or just expressed some sort of shocked or astonished expression. They asked Mr. Pennington alot of questions such as information about who could have targeted Mrs. Doyle or if she has mention anything at all to him. Mr. Pennington was extremely nervous and didn’t seem interested in helping whatsoever. At one point, he lies to them and by the end of the interview, both Poirot  and Race glance at eachother as if they are aware of it. In Chapter 26, Fanthorp was interviewed by Poirot. Poirot wanted to know his motive for being on the boat but Fanthorp didn’t really feel like answering at first. Eventually, he revealed that his uncle didn’t trust Mr.Penington because of funds disappearing and later once Mrs.Ridgeway found Mr.Pennington coincidentally in Egypt; there was a possibility that he was desperate enough to attempt to get more signatures from her.

Nicolas 4– Guilt And Choice

In chapter 4, HP confronts Linnet about her actions against Jackie as she was a friend she trusted and she took Simon from her. Linnet argues that she isn’t hurting Jackie because Simon never loved her and that she is actually helping out Jackie as their relationship would have never worked out even if they did marry. At the end of the argument HP concludes that Linnet does feel guilty about what she has done to her friend  and that it was her choice to pursue Simon and she knew how it would affect Jackie and she chose to ignore her feelings of regret and guilt.

Uriel 16–Who does Rosalie marry at the end? Why is this surprising? Ch 27

In “Death of the Nile” by Agatha Christie we are introduced to various characters, one of them being Rosalie Otterbourne. Rosalie is the daughter of Salome Otterbourne and throughout the novel, Rosalie ends up falling in love with Tim Allerton, who is the son of Mrs. Allerton. Rosalie later on ends up marrying Tim but their love story is kind of weird and surprising throughout. The reason why it’s so surprising Rosalie would marry Tim is due to a couple of reasons: first, Tim’s first impressions of Rosalie was that she seemed to be a bit “sulky” but when he started to get to know her he started to see another side of her which made him harbor feelings for Rosalie. Second, Tim was also not as innocent himself and was outed for stealing Linnet’s pearls; which made Rosalie question his morals as to why he would steal. Despite seeing the negative side of Tim, Rosalie still gave him a chance and married him, hence why it was so surprising towards the end.

Cornelia Robson – Jaheim Wilson

In Death of the Nile by Agatha Christie, Cornelia Robson is first seen in an apartment with her mother in New York.  She is the cousin of Miss Van Schuyler. Miss Van Schuyler is very wealthy and a financially successful person.  She is inviting Cornelia to travel with her to Europe or more specifically Egypt. Cornelia also seems to have a strong relationship with her mother. Her mother is very grateful that Miss Van Schuyler is taking her on this trip, and expresses sadness that she isn’t able to take her places. Though secretly Cornelia doesn’t seem very happy about going. There seems to be some tension between the cousins.

Justin Huang Question #14

Who is Richetti? And who is he actually revealed to be in the end?

Richetti, full name is Signor Guido Richetti is a  Italian archeologist. On chapter 28 Race reveals to us upon hearing the telegram about vegetables, potatoes, artichokes and so forth. That it was a secret code used in the South African rebellion. Potatoes stand for machine gun, artichokes stand for explosives. Race states that  Richette is agitator who has killed more people in the past.

Question #16 – “Who does Rosalie marry at the end? Why is this surprising?” – Uriel Flores Garcia

In “Death on the Nile” by Agatha Christie, Rosalie Otterbourne is introduced to us, the readers, for being the daughter of Salome Otterbourne. In the novel, it is shown that Rosalie Otterbourne falls in love with Tim Allerton and later on marries him. Tim Allerton is known for being the son of Mrs. Allerton. However, there are some internal conflicts that Tim Allerton had in the past that made the relationship he has with Rosalie Otterbourne somewhat surprising. The first reason is that Tim described Rosalie as someone for being “sulky” but later on he starts seeing another perspective from her and starts knowing her much better. Another thing that was also surprising was that Tim was discovered for stealing Linnet’s pearls, and Hercule Poirot gives him a chance on returning them instead of involving the cops in Chapter 27, even though Rosalie questioned him on how he began his journey in robbing. Even Rosalie gave Tim a chance, which was surprising in the end.

Death on the Nile by Rubab Tariq

Who is Colonel Race, why is he on the boat beginning at Abu Simbel, and what is his relationship to Hercule Poirot like?

Colonel Race had been seen by Hercule Poirot in London a year before. They had been guests at a weird dinner party, one that had ended in death for the eccentric man who had hosted it. Race was a man of unannounced comings and goings, as Poirot knew. He was frequently seen in one of the Empire’s outposts where danger was brewing.Colonel race was seeking murder among the pessanger on the board, he was looking for the man who has committed five or six cold-blooded murders. He’s one of the most astute hired agitators in history and it was reported that the person was on this board.

kiara deolio question 17

How does the telegram that Linnet accidentally intercepted become the “vegetarian” clue that tells Race who the dangerous agitator is?

It becomes the vegetarian clue because the telegram is written in code that was used in South African rebellion the vegetables are associated with different types of ammunition and because Race knows that Richetti is a known killer Race assumed that because Linnet saw the telegram Richetti would kill her so she wouldn’t repeat what the telegram said.
