Monday, October 28 to Sunday, November 3

Lessons

  • 4.6 Parametric Lines (part 2)
  • 4.7 Planes in $\mathbb{R}^3$
  • 4.8 Spanning and Linear Independence in $\mathbb{R}^n$ (part 1)
    • Geogebra: linear combinations and span
      • This shows the example we were discussing at the end of Wednesday’s class:
        • the vectors $\vec{u}_1$ and $\vec{u}_2$ are shown in black and $\vec{v}$ is shown in red,
        • $span\{\vec{u}_1, \vec{u}_2\}$ is the turquoise plane,
        • you can play with the parameters $a$ and $b$ on the left to see different linear combinations of $\vec{u}_1$ and $\vec{u}_2$ in blue; you’ll notice that all the blue vectors will live in the turquoise plane (and so does the red vector $\vec{v}$, since it is a linear combination of $\vec{u}_1$ and $\vec{u}_2$).
