Hispanic Heritage Month Mathematician Profile

I will be focusing on Dr. Nick Castro, he was born and raised in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley just north of Los Angeles. He attended the LA Community Colleges before transferring to Cal State University Northridge. He is very inspiring to me because of how he teaches other students and joining various programs to help develop knowledge while at the same time giving knowledge to his students. According to Dr. Nick Castro, “He believes that one’s own experiences help shape who they are and can create unique perspectives which can change and improve our understanding of the world.” (Lathisms 2024)  This is a very powerful sentence because knowledge is power and it really helps create the perspective of understanding the world and changing the aspects of how you would see the world. Therefore Dr. Nick Castro has inspired me to do the same by improving how I see the world and to improve on the understanding of the world not as one object or thing but as a whole.
