Test #1 grades and feedback

Congratulations on surviving Test #1! Your test #1 grades have been posted to Blackboard and your graded PDFs have been moved into your graded work folder (you received an email with the Dropbox link to this folder on September 14; it was sent to whatever email address WeBWorK has on file for you, so if it’s not in your CityTech inbox, check your Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook…). There are two exceptions:

  1. You haven’t had your Test #1 interview yet, but you’ve been in touch with me to reschedule it. Your grade will appear some time after your interview.
  2. You did not include your student ID card in your scan. To get your Test #1 grade, please take another photo or scan of the first page of the test that you submitted, with your name, EMPLID, and written work visible, and with your student ID placed on top of the page. (For this step, you may submit a JPEG or PDF file.) Use the same upload link that you used to submit your test: upload here. Your grade will be added to Blackboard after I receive your photo/scan.

Most of the feedback and scores for individual questions are written in red on your PDF. Your written grade and interview grade are written near the top of your first page in blue; your overall Test #1 grade is circled. The time that your WeBWorK was due and the time that you uploaded your PDF are written in green; if your PDF arrived late, a penalty was applied to your written work grade. If I took notes during your interview, those appear in pink.

Test #1 solutions assignment

Recall that we crowdsourced the Test #1 review sheet. Now we will crowdsource the Test #1 solutions sheet in a similar way. Choose one of your test questions that you struggled with or you weren’t 100% confident about (if you took two versions, choose one question from either version). Become an expert on this one question. Write a new and complete solution for this question that you think would earn full credit.

Remember that you each were assigned similar—but different—test questions. Be sure to write your actual question before you write your solution so your classmates know what you were asked. Explain how your solution answers the question you were asked.

Peer review

Before you post your Test #1 solution on the OpenLab, it must be reviewed by your peers. Share your solution with your group before Thursday’s study group session so that they have time to review it before you meet with each other on Thursday.

Meet on Thursday at 10am in the Blackboard study group rooms. Ask for your study group’s feedback. Do they think your solution would earn full credit? Is it clear, organized, and complete? Can they understand your thinking based on what you wrote? Is it correct? What questions do you have for them about your work? What questions do they have for you about your work? Take their feedback to write a new and improved version of your solution.

At the bottom of your solution, write “Reviewed by:” and the names of the members who reviewed your work.

Posting instructions

Each group member is responsible for their own post. Title your post Test #1 Solutions. Add the category Test #1 Solutions before publishing your post. (Open up the settings pane on the right side of the screen; under Document, scroll down to Categories; the Test #1 Solutions category appears under Course Activities > Student Work.)

Posting your Test #1 solution will earn you participation credit; your solution does not have to be 100% correct to earn this credit, but please do your best!
