New York City! “One of the best cities to live in!” – Said the people that do not live in New York. Despite the cruel and heartless people, the crowded streets and public transportation, and finally the ever changing weather (which is mostly cold weather), NYC is filled with art. Art is everywhere in this city ranging from the streets to the subway station, there are always something interesting that catches the eye. For example graffiti that can be seen at almost everywhere in NYC, the architecture of Grand Central Station, the mozaics that can be seen in the subway stations, the sculptures that can be see around the city, the religious murals that are on the ceiling of churches, and etc. Living in this city gave me a chance to observe and learn the different types of art that can be viewed in this city. There are more opportunities in NYC because of the art works that are being shown only in the museums in NYC. For example the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the MoMA, and etc. Even though there are more opportunities to learn there are also a lot of competition because there are always someone doing something that is similar to you. Therefore you have to challenge your self in order to stay on top.

Hello Everyone ,I’m Ashley of Peak of Creativity , I work with Special Education and the idea of working with unique media to create art has always intrigued me, reading this blog inspired me to do an activty with my scholars. I decided to do an activity using a limited amount of materials . When doing this activity we didnt use adventurous media such as moss etc…

We used tattered magazines and masking tape to create sculptures, to add incentive the creator of the tallest structure would win 20 scholar dollars ! The scholars took such initiative and took time to sketch and really enjoy the process of being creative. All of my scholars enjoyed the change in the modus operandi.

Maybe I had a little too much fun.

In reply to Chris Brogans Blog Topics I chose the topic “What I spend my money on.” I spend my money on random things but mostly food and plants. Everytime I go somewhere with my friends, we will always try something new. So what is food? Food is something that is consumed to provide the body nutrition for daily routines and it is usually from animals or plants.

I would try any new types of food, if I like it I’ll try it again next time, but if I don’t I wont eat it again because I will remember why it is unappitizing to me. Trying new foods may even expand your view on life. Some cuisines may look appitizing may not tast as expected, while some may appear unappitizing  and may tast great. So never say that you don’t like something if you have never tried it because some things are not always as it seems. Also never base whether you like it or not on one thing you have tried from the whole cuisines because you may not like a couple of dishes but there may be other dishes or even another resturant that you may not have tried yet that my still appeal to you.

I like to buy plants because plants come in various shapes, colors, and may have certain functions. Plants gives off a calming feeling, helps purify the air around you, produce oxygen and the color green is good for your eyes to stare at. Most plants come in different sizes, foliage shapes, varigated foliage patterns, and my have vibrant flowers. My favorite plants are plants that look unusual, for example carnivorous plants because I personally hate insects with a passion! Therefore, these plants can be used as a natural pest control. There are different carnivorous plants too, there are the venus fly trap plant, the sundew plant,and the pitcher plant. These plants each have a different function to catch their prey, the venus fly trap plant uses the snap trap function, the sundew use the sticky function (it basically looks like fly paper), and the pitcher plant uses the pitfall trap function.
