Food art is changing the placement or shape of  the food on ones serving container to make the food or cuisine more appealing or appetizing. Food art can be different in various places of the world. For example some cuisines uses a large white plate as their display platform and puts their little bit of food in there. Although there is a little bit of food, it is still decorated with different sauces, textures, herbs, fruits, and uses the eye catching colors of vegetables to make it look elegant.

In the image above is a picture of a bento.  A bento is usually a home made meal common in Japanese cuisine. Traditional bentos usually holds ride, meat, fish, and vegetables, in a box shaped container. In this bento a piece of lettuces was put on the interior of the container so that the food wont stick the bottom. Then the pieces of meat and cherry tomatoes were put near the interior edges of the box. The rice is shaped into the body of a cartoon character, Pikachu from the show called pokemon. The minor details for example the face, ears, and the flowers were made from nori (the japanese name for the edible sea weed or for those of you that don’t know, its the dark green paper looking thing that is on sushi) and kamaboko (japanese fish cakes).
