After reading Anonymous’ work, I realized that someone’s drive and passion to make themselves happy can make them overcome even the hardest things in life. This passage in the beginning explains that women often give up their careers in writing to build a family, and focusing on only that aspect of their lives. I don’t think that it is fair that women have to go through this because it’s what society has put in place and what society expects. Anonymous tells us that despite all these challenges she was teaching, raising her child and continuing her love for writing. Why did her husband make such a big deal out of her being a writer ?If she was doing everything in her personal life correctly why was a picture of him supporting other writers presented in court as her going out and having a good time, as if she was abandoning her family and responsibilities. After reading this I was a little relieved with the outcome because she was able keep everything that was good for her in the long run. The ending was reality great because women ready this may resonate and know that they are not alone and is not just them it’s a whole community that supports the decision to write and do what they love. If someone can overcome this trauma from their spouse, that makes them a stronger and greater human being.

Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up. If those times don’t work with your schedule, we can schedule a different time. This means you’ll have to schedule an appointment in advance. I suggest you have multiple times in mind, since your schedule may not mesh with mine!

Exactly!! I hate what society has portrayed what a woman should be doing and should not be doing, it breaks my heart. Men have the worst egos ever.
I completely agree that someone’s drive and passion to make themselves happy can make them overcome even the hardest things in life, because the speaker went through so many things while still juggling being a mother, professor and not having the support of her husband. Despite everything she kept going.
