Dear future student,

My name is Sumayah Ayed and I was told to write a letter to the upcoming students who will be taking this class. I would like to talk to you about these two compelling assigment that will forever stay with me. The first assignment is called ” jones critique” and I know your probably wondering “what in the world is a jones critique” well ill tell you. A critique is when you look at any reading or any writing piece! whether it being a poem or a short story, with critiquing you are able to make your criticisms into a suggestion to the reader or writer, and that’s the beauty of critiquing! you can also write things that enjoyed as well, the reason why I even chose this because it was very hard at first but when i got to the end of the semester it was very easy for me thanks to professor Jessica. Another assignment that stood out to me was writing poetry, when you are assigned to write poems in this course, allow your heart to speak when writing it, let your soul guide you when writing in each stanza because I believe in poetry you can express your own emotions and feelings about something or somewhere, whether it be about something sad, happy, or even dark. It’s like creating your own masterpiece that defines you. In poetry, your brain doesn’t speak but your heart does. My experience with online learning was not so great in this course because we had to communicate with our peers who were in our groups, they would not answer back or do the assigned work and this can potentially affect our participation grade! I advise doing the work!! never delay any assignment, be on track, and don’t be a slacker because you will not gain anything for someone who loves to procrastinate and delays their assignments last minute! One thing that ill take out from this course is no matter who is reading your story it doesn’t matter if the reader does not enjoy your own writing piece, it’s okay to take criticism because this your story to tell, it’s not theirs and that’s what makes us all unique when it comes to writing and telling our journeys our story. And I also learned about the power of critiques as I explained earlier in this letter. NEVER hesitate to ask your professor anything when your lost or confused because trust me professor Jessica will do anything to help you out, DONT BE SHY and ask.
