When I was writing poems in previous classes in elementary, middle and high school most of the time we were taught about smiles, metaphors and rhyming. After this class and the various poems we were able to go through in class I learned that there is more to poetry than just what I listed before.
After these past classes I learned that you are more “free” when writing poems and you aren’t as restricted as I initially thought we were. You can make poems start or end their lines with a significant word or phrase. It can look different such as the box method, or changing how the words look by spacing it out a certain way. All of these ways weren’t known to me which will help me in the future.
