Writing memoirs helped me reflect more on my past experiences and remember how and what I used to be. The criteria isn’t too complicated for me because it needs a type of experience that probably everyone has in common like  “meet my..” which indicated that everyone has a valuable thing that they can introduce and talk about. I don’t usually try to remember simple things or come up with an idea that will be easy to talk about, for I take my time thinking about an idea when digging in my past experiences in order to pick out an actual interesting topic that will help me make a catchy start and keep the reader engaged.

Writing my first memoir was a good start for me to recalibrate those creative writing engines since I’ve been used to writing based on a certain literal standard. To put it in simple words, when an instructors tells me to just write and express I tend to be more fired up and motivated to write. I typed my first memoir in class and couldn’t wait to take the  train ride after class to finish it. Since it’s been 4 years I haven’t had an English course, and I’ve been really caught up with so much it’s been a little difficult for me to double check my grammar and punctuation. I usually copy and paste my work in Google translate, play the audio reader and listen to it which helps me find so many errors that I would’ve never found while reading.

Now writing the second memoir was a challenge to be honest, even though the question was general and a little vague. It took me a week to think about it and I couldn’t come up with an idea till I was editing and updating my first memoir. The question was when was a time in your life when you felt anonymous. Now during my first memoir I talked about how I used to prank my classmates and friends playing with my TV screens using my remote control watch. I also mentioned that I did not tell anyone about my watch’s capabilities, therefore I was technically feeling anonymous especially when one of our teachers was talking to the class and threatening to shut down class activities. Basically my first memoir helped me write about an important part that somehow filled the criteria of the second memoir. I still look forward to writing and I am enjoying to correct and revise my work so I can learn and become a better writer.
