Realistically when I heard about writing memoirs or stories from your perspective it was something that flew over my head. It was a topic that I figured I would do really well on and would easily complete. For the most part writing my stories was fun, getting to tell others of your experiences and have them relate is a different feeling. However, when it came to the critiques I was humbled. I had realized that I would usually leave out minor details that could help the reader better understand the situation. For example, I rarely included dates, in my second memoir I wrote about a model when I was in architecture and I was asked things like, what was your grade? Or what did the professor think of it. It helped me understand that because it’s my story I understood everything and didn’t have to include things, however when someone else is reading it’s important to include those minor details seeing how they can help the reader feel included.
