To me, Chapter 1 of “Truth and Beauty” was very interesting. I enjoyed the details that she mentioned about her friend Lucy. She explains how she and Lucy managed to become such close friends after knowing each other for such a time. What threw me off though, was the talks that they used to talk about. Usually friends become friends because they have mutual interests, but Patchett and Lucy really did not have any mutual interests just that they went to college together. So I would like the ask Patchett are you and Lucy really friends or just trying to find comfort in each other. I thought that the moment that Lucy were to find any other real meaning in her life than to just give herself to guys, she might leave Patchett. Since this was only the first chapter, I hope as thee book progressed that their relationship will strengthen for the better.
