After reading Ann Patchett’s “Truth & Beauty”, I found it really interesting, because I didn’t expect things to turn out the way it did. At first I thought this was just a story about how Ann becomes the women she is today and what her life was like when she was a kid. I also thought it was going to be about how Lucy was battling cancer and what that experience was like for her. I also found it interesting that Lucy was a person who would constantly ignore Ann or wouldn’t even acknowledge her. But I didn’t expect for Ann and Lucy to just talk casually about their sexual life. I found it really interesting, because at that time they didn’t know each other very well. I just found it really odd that Lucy was really open to her about her sex life. Question’s I have about this story is that what made Lucy come out so naturally to someone she barely knew? Was she lonely? Did she not have anyone else to talk to about her personal life? Why was she so obsessed with the idea of love?
