Some enjoyable parts of Patchett’s piece was the way the dialogue was portrayed. To me it gave me a sense of comfort while reading the interactions between Ann and Lucy because it reminded me of talking to my close friend on the phone. It was also enjoyable yet weird in a sense to read about Lucy opening up and going into great detail about her sex life with Ann. Enjoyable because again I get that sense of a friend talking to me on the phone about gossip but weird because in this case Lucy and Ann aren’t that close at all however Lucy talks to Ann as if they are. Some questions I would ask Lucy is why did she feel so comfortable opening up to Ann about such personal information? As for Ann, how did she feel hearing all of this from someone she doesn’t have a history with?
