Civil disobedience is when someone breaks the law without hurting anybody, they knowingly break the law but with an intent. I do think that Antigone did technically engage in civil disobedience, however her heart was in the right place. Some of the time, civil disobedience is when you decide to protest something that you think is not fair or is wrong because of morals. I think that this is the case here, Antigone thought the rule was unfair and was not right morally, so she took things into her own hands. I agree with her decision, she chose to honor her brother and break the law, instead of her just following the rules and her brother not being buried.

Class Meetings & Times: in person Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30 – 3:45 PM in Namm 523A
Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12 – 1:30 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up. If those times don’t work with your schedule, we can schedule a different time. This means you’ll have to schedule an appointment in advance via email. I suggest you have multiple times in mind, since your schedule may not mesh with mine!
