For my unit 1 assignment, I decided to do a speech because it seemed easier to me and because it can address a broader audience than a letter and it kinda has the same theme as a regular essay. But as for whether or not it was easier than an essay I would say no since I had to be a little bit more creative with a speech to not bore the audience. The reading assignments that were most helpful in creating my speech were AOC’s and Young’s because theirs were easier to read, it inspired me to think of a great title for my piece because theirs was so great, and it also helped me think of creative ways to connect to the audience. But I did still appreciate having the other readings as a guide because it helped me to illustrate things less literally. It also helped me think of creative ways to connect to the audience. And I don’t think I learned anything new about myself with this assignment and nothing surprised me about my writing.

Class Meetings & Times: in person Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30 – 3:45 PM in Namm 523A
Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12 – 1:30 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up. If those times don’t work with your schedule, we can schedule a different time. This means you’ll have to schedule an appointment in advance via email. I suggest you have multiple times in mind, since your schedule may not mesh with mine!
