Bresson’s ideas about taking photos are about using the elements around you. Using the geometric shapes, the lines, the framing. It is important to capture the moment and the mood in a fraction of a second. He says by using your instincts, to act quickly and the first glance at your subject is essentially important because at that moment something within you helps you to capture the picture. He also says that you must have an open mind and aware of your surroundings. And that you must remain consistent to continue taking photos and shooting your feelings.

Bresson shot a lot of photos. By doing so, he gets in a state of mind where his instinct takes over. Not all the pics he shot are successful but they lead to the good ones. The the photos are sketches some good some not. He learns from the ones that don’t work to make the good ones.
