It is important to know what you are capturing in the picture frame because it makes a big difference for the mood of the picture. When deciding what to put in the frame, you have to think of the picture as a whole and consider the surroundings, not just pay attention to the main subject. What a photographer wants to portray regarding the tone and mood plays a part in knowing what should be captured as well as what is visually appealing.
