This project was really interesting because we started by reading Ellen Lupton’s based on texture in order to have a better understanding of what we were going to work on. I took pictures of objects that had some type of textures at my house and some were outside, then I used them to make a collage piece with the help of Adobe. Some of the objects shown in the gallery are, a pair of shoes, a face mask, a napkin, and a fire hydrant.
Upon that, I began creating rubbings and hand-drawn textures. The rubbings were the most difficult part for me since I didn’t have a lot of objects on which I could make rubbings, and the ones I had were not flat so I had to be cautious with the force I used on the sketching paper. To conclude, this project gave me a wider understanding of what value and texture is in art.
