Kevin Halley

Good day! My name is Kevin, and I am a Mechanical Engineering Technology Major. My pronouns are he/him and I would like to be addressed as so. My hobbies include I watching anime, reading comics and discussing topics related to social media/personal life. I am African American but my parents are from a Caribbean country called Guyana. I was born and raise in Queens, New York. Though, I have never been to Guyana I have a strong heritage in the culture.  I feel like college is an interesting experience that is frustrating because, it gets overwhelming at times. It is a lot to try and maintain a school/ work life but I am managing so far.

The image above is a picture that I took around Christmas Time, at the Jones Beach State Park. This digital animation is apart of the annual Magic of lights, a drive-through holiday LED show. This picture makes me feel happy that people in this world are capable of finding love. I think that true love is a rare feeling to find because it hard to search for that one person who is going to communicate, be honest, make you happy. This picture shows a physical representation of two people displaying love to the world (with the crowd watching below in the cars).  And I have been so lucky to be one of those people to find love.

Odalis Cruz

My name is Odalis Cruz and my pronouns are she/her. I’m from Brooklyn and my major is business in technology of fashion and I’m a sophomore. I enjoy spending time with my family and, I love sitting outside my house and enjoying nature and the weather. Some media topics that interest me are podcasts and videos, and learning about current events environmental issues, and immigration. I feel good about it being my second year in college the first year I was a nervous wreck, but now that I know how everything works I feel more confident.

The picture below I took this summer while I was in Mexico. Every summer I go over there and visit my family there and I really enjoy my time there and I miss it. I love it over there it is so much different than over here and that is the main thing I look forward to each summer.

Sphear Forde

Hello everyone! My name is Sphear, my pronouns are she/her and my major is Professional and Technical Writing with a specialization in biology. This is my last semester at City Tech, and I have relatively enjoyed my time here. In my free time, I like to read, paint, and do DIY projects around the house. My favorite genres to read are dystopian fiction, nonfiction literature and true crime. Two current media topics that interest me are the immigration issue at the border and the increase in wildfires due to climate change.

Below is a picture of a hanging wooden butterfly I painted over the summer. It is one of my favorite craft paintings I have done this year. It symbolizes new beginnings and hope.  Each color of the butterfly corresponds with the overall message of the butterfly.  Green represents health, healing, wellbeing, and freshness. Blue represents peace. Yellow represents happiness, creativity, and warmth. White represents spiritual transformation, good luck, and prosperity.
