Museum Trip

One of the art works that got me interested is “Chinese Men walking in the Park”, this art is by Don Freeman. This art is from 1928-1978. This artist used watercolor, and also looks like a sketch. The outlines of the brush marks are really clean, I could tell it is two men walking in a funny way, their probably drunk or old because one of them has a cane. I noticed there is another person in the back reading a newspaper but it’s not in full color like the two men in the front, and he doesn’t have a face expression. I also notice that the art work looks like it’s not completed, like it starts to fade when it is reaches to the background. Both the men who are walking are fully in color, drawn out, and shaded expect for the person in the back and the background where it is not fully colored.

The second art work is “Midtown And Lower Manhattan Covered In Smog”, this art is by Andy Blair from 1966. It’s a black and white photo of Manhattan, there are buildings and fogs everywhere. It looks like it’s sunny day during that time but cloudy because of the fog. Most of the building looks pretty dark, really hard to see the other buildings that are further away and the streets or sidewalks. There isn’t really much to see since there are a lot of fog blocking mostly everything.

The third art work that also got me interested is “Woman Hanging Laundry”, this art is by Don Freeman. It is from 1928-1978. I really like his illustrations because his sketches always have clean outlines, different shades, and it’s pretty detailed. In this artwork it shows a middle age woman trying to hang all her clothes on the laundry string. Her expression looks like she really tired. There is another building at the back and a store at the bottom of the artwork. For the detail part of the artwork, the way he drew the buildings, it’s not just a 3 dimensional shaped rectangle, he drew bricks to make it look like a actual building. He also drew the clothes pretty detailed, and also her face expression.

Another artwork that I also found interesting is “Chinese Cultural Activities, vol. 1 and 2” it is from the Transfiguration Chinese School. It’s a book from 1977, where they teach people Chinese culture and their language. What I like about this book is the front cover, which is a drawing of a dragon, fog, and water. To me it looks like a digital drawing, it takes up like a little more than half of the cover, and the title is at the bottom. It’s like a Chinese style type of drawing where it’s mostly outlines, detailed, and it’s like a cartoon type of style. The way it’s drawn is they fit the dragon, fog, and water in a circle shape, and not colored in. The book looks plain but the drawing looks really detailed on the top.
