Ethics In Design 2A

Giving another artist credit for their work is always something I want to focus and pinpoint on especially in the professional field. You never want to use anotherâs work without going through the proper channels. Not to mention you wouldnât want to be on the other end of that situation. Looking into the Fairey case I also wouldnât want to go through the âfinancial and psychological cost to myself and my familyâ he described as he faced the backlash of failing to go through the proper channels himself. Because it could be a dark place once one starts to get the law involved.Â
But in the past, I can say the only time I used another artist’s work and haven’t given them credit is solely in my own space practicing my own craft. Otherwise as designers we need to always be aware that we should not use other peopleâs work without properly giving them credit. But with that being said it is also our job to protect ourselves, not to mention is truly revolves around the notion that we should always be ethical in terms of the channels we take as well as what we put out as well.
