For the rule of thirds I didn’t understand the way it worked, when taking a photograph you do not shoot the object in the center. Picture a square and 4 corners, within those four corners the photo you take should be in the range of those four corners and not the center. Today we took a picture of a chair and the way it was set up is that we placed it on the right side so after we took the picture it was aligned right. I hope to learn more about the rule of thirds because I want to understand it clearly.

There are a lot of view points when taking a picture. Some of them i knew but “Rules of Thirds” was one of them ones i did not know. Rules of Third is basically i grid that divides a photo into threes. The rule is that the picture shouldn’t be centered. Now i can recognize a “rule of thirds” picture and i’m proud.

Today in class i enjoyed taking pictures and not only that but taking so many different pictures with just one object. From the difference in angles and lightings. One thing i learned today was the shallow depth of field. It is a great way to make pictures not only look nice but it makes you focus more on the main object than the background.

In class chair shoot

Before this class I really didn’t understand rule of thirds. Now I understand that it is when the main subject of the photo is not centered and the focus point is in a unusual position. Also the subject can be in a tilted position and there can be a lot of negative space included. This is breaking the usual rules of photography, but creates a different perspective and an interesting point of view.

The term that I learned new from today was  shadow space.Shadow space means that most objects are close together and seem to be in focus. Our group take a chair top and focused it on the cracks and the bolts of the chair. We also used this picture to emphasize the texture on the chair. The texture was rough and jagged.

In class i learned the term “the rule of thirds”. It’s when the camera screen is split into thirds, and you snap a picture while its focused on the four corners. I used it for my image of the chair. It helped me learn how to take a shot using the term.

What Jonathan learn in today’s class 9/5/12.

Before today’s class I didn’t know what Off balance/Asymmetrical mean. After today, I learned that Asymmetrical is a photo that is half of a full frame. The way I used it was taking the photo in half. Its a good thing because sometime you won’t really see the full image, which make finding whats the picture about more fun.

chicken butt !- Nivaaj Kanan/ 9/5/12 digital photography – what i learned today.

Emphasized texture -i learned that you need to use this is photography because it shows the close up with the object , how it really looks and the focus of the texturer can really bring out the picture. also that with that you can make the object look like something completely  different and make peoples imagination go to work when they watch it.
