My Projects

Opening Gateways Project Management

Opening Gateways Project Management

This is a private group for members of the management team of “Opening Gateways to Completion: Open Digital Pedagogies for Student Success in STEM,” a Title V Cooperative Arrangement grant funded through U.S. Department of Education’s Supporting Hispanic-Serving Institutions program. The project, a collaboration between City Tech and the Borough of Manhattan Community College, is focussed on using Open Digital Pedagogies to increase student success in gateway mathematics courses for STEM disciplines. 2018-2019 Opening Gateways Faculty Seminar

2018-2019 Opening Gateways Faculty Seminar

“Opening Gateways to Completion: Open Digital Pedagogies for Student Success in STEM” is a 5-year, $3.2 million grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Supporting Hispanic-Serving Institutions program (Title V). The goal is to support student success in mathematics courses that serve as gateways to STEM disciplines, courses that often act as barriers to progress and completion in these disciplines. The project, awarded jointly to the New York City College of Technology (lead) and the Borough of Manhattan Community College (partner) in 2015, brings the two institutions together in a cross-campus collaboration that will introduce open-source digital technologies, open educational resources, and active learning pedagogies into the sequence of high-enrollment mathematics courses required for STEM disciplines at each college.

Partnerships for Quality Education

Partnerships for Quality Education

The Partnerships for Quality Education is a Global Education group housed at CASE as a University-wide Group supporting CUNY students, faculty and research partnerships to enrich the lives of youth and adults by promoting and improving global education. To accomplish this we will build upon CASE’s infrastructure and experience as program developers and the exemplary work underway by Dr. Marianna Bonanome and Dr. Samar ElHitti. The vision of Partnerships for Quality Education is to act as a hub for collaborations and partnerships both within and outside CUNY centered around quality education for all, in particular, inclusive and equitable quality education for all and lifelong learning opportunities in the spirit of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4). Partnerships for Quality Education will raise awareness, unite CUNY efforts and forge new partnerships and develop new initiatives.

OpenLab WeBWorK Integration Project

OpenLab WeBWorK Integration Project

This is a private group for members of the management and technical team that is developing OpenLab-WeBWorK integration. WeBWorK is an open source online homework system for math and science courses – more information can be found here: http://webwork.maa.org/ This project is part of the Title V Opening Gateways grant.
