He wasn’t able to prove to his family that he was capable enough to meet their demands. He wasn’t skilled enough to meet the standards of first year mechanical engineering classes and majored in geography. However, when he signed up to the military the uniform, it gave him structure, order, organization, purpose and a balance of self entitlement during a time where he thought he wasn’t able to do much.
