My Beliefs on Nursing

My journey to becoming a nurse has been a very long one. My first hospital experience was getting my nasal polyps out and I must breath via my mouth, I felt the mouth was so dry, a nurse gave me an ice-pop, and it was so sweet! Growing up I wanted to become a Nurse and my dream came to truth on 1990. My life changed drastically on 2001, I moved to the United States, and I only could be a medical assistant at beginning. I studied so hard and passed the board test and be back to associate degree nurse in 2005. I went back to college in 2012 to obtain my BSN Diploma and I will be graduated the end of 2014.

I have great respect for all the nurses that I worked and working with. They treat patient with dignity and respect and as a person. They help me shape my beliefs on Nursing care and the profession itself.

My personal philosophy

My personal philosophy I believe is to work in the nursing profession and to provide the best compassionate care with the highest level of standards and expertise required to make the individual your caring for feel comfortable comes from within your personal reflections and proficiency in nursing ethics and education. A solid foundation is based on the knowledge we learn through practice and experience to enable the nurse to provide a professional and genuine relationship with their clients.

As a nurse I will strive to provide the best care for my patients- physically, mentally and spiritually. I will guide them and their family through the stress and emotional turmoil that the illness has put them through from start to finish. I will educate my patients and their families and act as an advocate for my patients and return control of their care to their hands by knowing their choices and options and supporting their decisions. I will also support my colleagues and treat everyone with respect and understanding. To me, nurses are selfless and give their knowledge, skills and compassion to their patients and their community. Nurses become leaders, innovators and give assistance to those in need while helping their community and encourage others every day to join their plight in healing.
