On Trial: EBSCO eBooks (Academic Collection)

The library is currently hosting a trial to EBSCO eBooks, which provides you with access to 51,000 titles. This subscription package contains a large selection of multidisciplinary e-book titles representing a broad range of academic subject matter—from business and science, to engineering and humanities.
Books can be viewed online or downloaded to a device such as the iPad or the Nook. (Sorry, Kindle owners, these e-books are not compatible with your e-reader due to DRM restrictions.) For instructions on downloading e-books, visit ebscohost.com/ebooks/.
The trial ends on June 30, 2012! The database is available from both on- and off-campus, so try it out today!
Your feedback is greatly appreciated in assessing trial databases. Please contact Prof. Allie Verbovetskaya at averbovetskaya@citytech.cuny.edu with your comments, questions, or concerns about EBSCO eBooks.
Don’t forget! All databases currently under consideration by the City Tech library are listed on the library’s website.

Some of your favorite databases have moved!

If you use any of the Wilson databases (e.g., Education Full Text, General Science Full Text, etc.), you’ll be surprised to find that they now look different:
Visual representation of migration from old interface (Wilson) to new interface (EBSCO)
That’s because these databases are now owned by EBSCO. All of the content is the same but the interface has changed.
So how does this affect you? Well, if we did our part right, this should not affect your research in any way! You will only need to update your bookmarks and transfer your “My WilsonWeb” information to a new “My EBSCOhost” account by February 1, 2012. (For more information about “My EBSCOhost,” please visit support.ebscohost.com.) Otherwise, all of the functionality will remain the same and it will be business as usual.
If you run into any issues, please do not hesitate to contact Prof. Allie Verbovetskaya at averbovetskaya@citytech.cuny.edu.

HighWire Journals in Ebsco Databases

Links to the 326 journals in Stanford’s open access HighWire are now available in Ebsco databases. Many of these journals are in science but there are a considerable number of titles in the social sciences, humanities, and other areas. HighWire offers 2,029,167 articles free of charge.
In Ebsco, look for “Check Highwire Press for Full Text.” Note that many HighWire titles have embargoes that limit users from access to current content.
