Today is June 6, the 71st anniversary of the Normandy invasion. To mark the occasion we thought we would share this item from the library archives.
Higher Education expanded dramatically after the Second World War, and City Tech was very much part of that trend. The college was founded in 1946 as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences, and many of our original students were discharged veterans going to school on the GI Bill.
Ike went back to college in 1947 as well. In June of that year–two years almost to the day after leading the D-Day invasion–he accepted the post as president of Columbia University.
