Blogging Workshop – May 7th

Anyone Can Blog (And So Can You!): How To Create Your Own Blog and More
Blogs (web logs) are continuing to change how ideas are expressed and exchanged. Wednesday, May 7th, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM, the library will present a workshop on blogging. The workshop will be in the library’s electronic classroom on the 5th floor of the library.
Participants will be learn how to create their own free blogs using WordPress or Blogger. We will demonstrate how you can create and maintain your own blog. Prior computer programming skills are not required.

Living Off the Land in Space Presentation – May 1st

The Ursula C. Schwerin Library will host a presentation by Physics Professor Gregory L. Matloff and Brooklyn artist C Bangs on the Library’s current exhibit Living Off the Land in Space.

Dr. Matloff and former NASA Fellow Bangs will discuss both the exhibit and their book of the same name co-authored with NASA manager Les Johnson.

Book Donations Wanted

The Library is having a spring book sale and is actively seeking used book donations. The books should be in good condition. They will be put in the book sale on Thursday, May 8, 2008.

Limited Lab Hours During Spring Break

The library’s Internet Lab will be open from 12:00PM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday during spring break. The Multimedia Resource Center will be open from 9:30AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday. We are closed on Saturday. For the hours of other computer labs on campus, follow this link.

Save the date: Brooklyn GreenWalk, May 1

May 1st, City Tech students will lead a walking tour for the general public and the college community that will explore environmental sustainability. The 1 ½ hour tour begins at 12:30 at the southeast corner of Jay and Tillary. Stops include a paper recycling plant, a “green” performative space, the Borough Hall greenmarket, Recycle-a-Bicycle, and more. From 2-2:30 Professor Reggie Blake will present on green roofs and the Urban Heat Island Effect in Namm 1023. Refreshments will be served. Please see attached brochure for more information. New eresources: SpringerLink and GreenFILE


SpringerLink logoSpringerLink is a very large ejournal collection in a variety of disciplines including science, technology and medicine.
GreenFile  (EBSCO) covers green issues for the lay person. It is an index.
Both GreenFILE (Ebsco) and SpringerLink are now accessible on-campus. LibraryBuzz readers will be updated when both are available off-campus and SpringerLink is added to the Find-It function and our ejournals A to Z list (Serials Solutions).
