September just happens to be Library Card Sign Up Month, so if you’ve been waiting to activate your City Tech card, or have been meaning to sign up for a card with the Brooklyn Public Library, September is a great time to dive in.
You may already be familiar with our databases and online resources, and know that CLICS is a great way to borrow from other CUNY libraries, but did you know you also have access to academic libraries across the region?
Don’t forget that the public libraries can also provide you with access to lots of great resources, including databases, online journals and e-books. If you’re not already familiar with them, we encourage you to explore the collections available to you through the Brooklyn Public Library and the NYPL.

Did you know that you can access our digital collections 24 hours a day with your activated CUNY ID card? Instructions for logging in from off campus can be found under Research Help on the library website.
What’s New @ the Library?
We invite all interested faculty members to attend our first library workshop of the semester, What’s New @ the Library. We’ll discuss some of the new resources and services we’re offering, and will also talk about some of the things we’re working on bringing to you over the coming year. The workshops will take place in Room A540, on the 5th Fl. of the City Tech Library, Atrium Bldg on the following dates:

Activating Your Library Card: Slightly New Procedure
Have you activated your library card for this semester? If you have, congrats! You are now able to borrow library materials from libraries throughout CUNY and access our online resources from the comfort of your home.
If you are a student and you haven’t, activated your library card yet, we just want to let you know that there has been a slight change to the procedure. As of this semester, Student ID cards are no longer getting stickers, so we ask that you bring both your Student ID card AND a copy of this semester’s bursar receipt (you can print a copy from esims) so that our circulation staff can verify you as a current student and welcome you back to the library.
Fall Library Course Offering
Are you looking for a last-minute addition to your schedule? Did you know that you can take a class in the library for college credit? This semester, the library is offering Research & Documentation for the Information Age, a course in which students explore where information comes from and the ways in which it can be organized in different types of media. Students will create research and documentation projects using both traditional and emerging technologies. They’re Here! E-Mail Alerts for Google Scholar Now Available Direct from Google
Until now, Google Scholar users had to use a variety of methods to create alerts to notify them of new content in Google Scholar. Well, the wait is over and as of this weekend, Google Scholar E-Mail Alerts are now available. It’s Google, of course they’re free.
