Alexander Street Drama
We’ve expanded our Alexander Street drama collection and now have the full collection which is called Alexander Street Drama.

We now have six collections that are cross-searchable via the North American Theatre Online interface. Find each individual collection on our database page or ebook master page.

Previously, we had Asian-American Drama, Black Drama, 2nd ed., and Latino Literature. We now have access to North American Indian Drama (244 plays), North American Women’s Drama (1517 plays) and 20th Century North American Drama (1905 plays). As usual, there’s lot of production-related content including ephemera.

Records for these collections will be added to the CUNY Catalog soon.

ARTStor interface update

ARTstor has recently made some updates to the Digital Library. New changes include:

  • Users will now be able to browse through image groups from the Image Group Panel. Once an image group has been opened, users will see a “Browse Groups” tab in the image group panel where they can navigate to another image group.
  • In response to your feedback, ARTstor has increased the maximum number of images that can be exported to PowerPoint in a 120-day period from 1,000 to 2,000. In addition, downloads to PowerPoint can now include up to 150 images per download.
  • Computer monitors with higher resolutions will be able to display more images per row.

Running into issues? After updates to the Digital Library, it may be necessary for users to clear the browser cache. See our help site for instructions.
Please don’t hesitate to contact User Services for more help at userservices@artstor.org.

ARTstor and the Romare Bearden Foundation have collaborated to share nearly 800 images of works by American artist Romare Bearden in the Digital Library. These works represent the breadth of Bearden’s enormous output, from his early paintings executed in a range of styles to his pioneering collage work, which highlights his unique combination of painting and collage materials drawn from popular sources. Throughout, Bearden’s art displays his deep engagement with the African American community and the Civil Rights movement. Continue reading “ARTStor now has Romare Bearden Foundation images”

Nineteenth Century Collection Online (NCCO) and the Slavery & Anti-Slavery Archive

Two primary source collections from Gale have been added to our resources: Nineteenth Century Collection Online (NCCO) and the Slavery & Anti-Slavery Archive.
Nineteenth Century Collection Online (NCCO) seems to include materials from British archives and libraries but the content itself is fairly wide-ranging in both subject and format. Slavery & Anti-Slavery Archive covers the history of and the debate on slavery both in the United States and elsewhere in the Western hemisphere including the Caribbean.
