The City Tech library now provides access to EasyBib, an online resource for citation and research. To register, students should visit the library’s Databases (articles and more) page here: http://library.citytech.cuny.edu/research/AToZ/index.php
They then select EasyBib from the list. Students must register using this link so they are recognized as City Tech students. The direct URL for the link is http://citytech.ezproxy.cuny.edu:2048/login?url=http://www.easybib.com/ and the user needs to login using their library barcode when off-campus. Students can use any email address to create an account, or log in with their Facebook, Yahoo, Google, AOL, or OpenID accounts. Then they can use their EasyBib accounts from any computer. Free smartphone apps for iOS and Android are also available.
Many students are already users of the free version of EasyBib, used to create citations for various media in MLA style. The school edition, provided by the library, provides many additional features:
-APA and Chicago citation style formatting
-formatting endnotes and parenthetical references
-evaluation of websites for accuracy, bias, and credibility
-virtual notecards and dynamic outlining
-import bibliographies from 3rd party software
Students who need to upgrade their accounts from the free to paid City Tech version can upgrade it to School Edition by clicking the “coupon codes” link on their projects page and entering the code “cunytech” (all lowercase and one word).
A useful summary of EasyBib’s features and functions is available in powerpoint form: http://media.easybib.com/guides/easybib-se-exec-summary.ppt
