instruction video
This is a short video that helps new Microsoft office 2010 users comprehend how to use the new features in Microsoft word. The instructor is the project manager of office and she is the narrator of the video. She displays how to use and understand these new features and better enhance a project and organize data with elaborate creative traces. After watching this video one can and will get a brief overview and feel more confident using this program to asses these new features in an assigned paper, a formal letter and charting with improved labeling such as a text effect that allows a glow to be present behind a word or words.
Gained knowledge from LIB1201
Conducting research before this class was like a game of roulette, I was either lucky to find reliable sources or not. However, after all the readings in Badke and the assigned readings the professor assigned I have become more comfortable with researching and confident in finding exactly what I am looking for. I have already applied my knowledge from this class to my other classese in all my research paper, and as I mentioned before my research has been successful and writing my papers have been much easier. I never felt like writing an outline would be helpful before this class as well and I have been incorporating this in my researching strategies. Overall, I have gained a lot on researching and finding reliable sources from this course and I will continue to use it in my future academic years.
Research paper Stratagy
My strategy for my first draft research paper is to use my outline as a guide to how I will formulate my paragraphs and main points with proof from the research I conducted. I am a bit nervous about my form of attack on this paper. However, this has worked for me in my past and I have been successful in past research papers. Nevertheless, my research has taken me to a slightly different direction to my original proposal; I have found information that correlates with one another other and I feel comfortable with my research I just have to change my mind frame from what I original wanted. I am not completely off, but my search was narrowed down specifically.
researching challenges
I am almost done with my research; I am, however, finding it difficult to find a scholarly source on the library database and on Worldcat.org. I was able to find one after a long time of rewording my topic; nevertheless, it was a challenge. Iâm not sure if what I am searching for specifically, there arenât any precise journals. I have used Google scholar and forced domains as well and I am not finding anything scholarly. I briefly tried CUNY+ and found nothing in CityTech, so I just left it alone. I am hoping to discuss this in class for more suggestions and guidance to accomplish exactly what I want with my paper.
Research for Topic of choice
I continued using scholar Google for my research and found
information that was related to my topic. Scholar Google gave me information
from newspaper article, journals, and books. I also forced domains by using
:.edu. I found by forcing the domains I was able to get much more reliable information. I also used the online database to find journals and I am having a difficult time finding exactly what I want; I have used some of the suggestions Badke mentions in Chapter 5, Keywords but not too many, using ANDs and ORâs. Â I found that by using Scholar Google, somethingI wasnât to familiar with using, the information was much easier than trying to Google the information and reading link by link to find what something reliable. Furthermore, I have incorporated ANDs and ORâs in all of my research
not only in this class, its making my research experience exceptionally pleasant.
Topic proposal
As I began brain storming on what I wanted to do for my research topic, I have chosen to pick a topic that I would be interested in doing research and learning from. We are told from elementary school, when were introduced to American History, we have the right to âfreedom of speechâ and expression. However, there are limitations to the âfreedomâ we allegedly possess. I also want to incorporate how people use subliminal messages in their movies, videos, images, and text, to get a point across that would not be able to directly. For example, over the weekend I was watching a few videos on YouTube about some subliminal messages in a few Disney shows and movies. Disney Subliminal Messages.
Search Engine’s
Searching, for most people, is something we do daily. However, it is a frustrating task when youâre trying to find exactly what youâre looking for. According to Badke, searching is all about âkeywordsâ and using them in certain ways like âORâ and âANDâ and making sure that we donât over load the search engine with too many words and make it more precise. Searching is necessary for all types of information and knowing exactly what database is reliable is essential. Liddyâs article on research mentions in query processor,ââŚthe longer the wait for result, the higher the quality of results.â We are a nation that prides ourselves on quick information and we truly have no patients; but choosing time and getting more reliable information is necessary. Google may pride itself on sleepless engineers, however, I find when I search through Google, itâs like pulling teeth, trying to find the information I need.
It is extremely clear that plagiarism is against the law and detrimental to oneâs academic career. However, with that said in one of the readings âPlagiarism: a Lie of the Mindâ has made it very clear that sometime what we say may have been said once before, but we use it and make it our own because it is easier for us to explain something. For example in my previous blog I entitled it âPuppets dancing on a Stingâ, I am certain that that phrase has originate somewhere else, but it makes it much easier for me to explain what I am trying to say. What we do is make something our own by using it in different context.
Furthermore, in the short video âThe law is Strangling creativityâ has made it evident that we are in a different age; the age of technology. He mentions that adults now, watched TV and the youth make TV, which is true. The youth use technology as a way of communication and creativity and that is something that may raise eyebrows because through creativity we sometimes use others work and change it to make it our own. This then leads to the issue of copy right laws, which are also plagiarism laws.
