Doing research can be a daunting task sometimes if one do not have the right information, and chapter 4 in Research strategies is teaching us how to deal with the difficulties that we face when trying to find answers. One thing I notice is that sometimes we get lots of results that does not contain what we are actually looking for. This chapter talks about two point that would helps us to deals with these problems. First, he mentions that computers can’t even tell the difference between two words, and that the results we get depends on the metadata. Metadata would help to distinguish the words that we put in there. The second point he talked about was “controlled vocabulary”, and one thing i learned after reading this chapter is that one could get different result by just putting quotation mark on a word.
