Blog concerning “The politics of research” by Brian Martin

In this short written summary or analysis of the way knowledge is used and exposed through out the population and idea that the work and study of professional researchers is affected by financial funding, disciplines from the department in charge and competition. As a result, it is mainly useful for corporation’s governments and researchers in addition among other bodies themselves to be involved in this matter of acquiring and controlling how knowledge is thought and based upon. Some Strategies to challenge this pattern include critical teaching and Research and teaching of the fine arts of theory to people that will listen. Well in my opinion economic knowledge is directed to a certain power groups in our society, which I think will be classified under corporations, governments and economists themselves that work in the field of research. Other disciplines of research are not much different in the way they are organized and used, in that they too are oriented to powerful groups of people, in this discussion the idea of knowledge is brought about many times. Knowledge is an Information and skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. Knowledge differs in its point of view and the way the knowledge is pin pointed and associated with a certain subject. knowledge is shaped in different ways and methods around which the same researcher or individual that is questing for knowledge are lost in this knowledge or actually use a modified knowing and knowledge version that fits their version or state of mind. Some correlated expertise and knowledge to be founded on the same basis of through and ideas. According to Brian Thomas an alternative vision is forcing and using knowledge in group work and individual methodology and single methodology not enforcing other quantized idea to the formula of knowledge.

  1. Tomer I agree with you 100% when you said that knowledge is directed to certain power groups in our society, and based on Brian Martin’s politics of research he stated that the vast majority of information is quite limited for individuals out of a specific sphere or area of expertise. Which makes it harder to acquire for certain individuals, he also goes on to state that knowledge isn’t concrete and that what we know today can quite easily be changed tomorrow with ever progressing discoveries and findings form members of a community who specialize in a particular field.
